Background:
Tom's life was cut very short due to the War. With this, there isn't much information of the young man out there which is respectable if it's the families wish. But there is a little out there on the web.
Born in Phili in 1921, Tom was one of the Greatest Generation out there. He was an artist and actually trained to at the Philadelphia School of Industrial Art to become a commercial artist. Sadly the War cut that career short. According to my research he was a great horseman and signed up for the cavalry while they still used horses but quickly signed up to become a paratrooper rather than being stuck in a tank.
He was placed within E company right after it was formed and quickly raised to the rank of First Lieutenant (1LT) and was placed in command of Easy only six months before the drop into Normandy. Thus also replacing Sobel who had been removed from command for a push over job behind the lines.
In the early hours of D-day, Tom's C-47 got hit. It probably would have been survivable to jump from of a.) the pilots hadn't paniced, b.) the stick hadn't been over packed with people, 21 instead of the general 18, plus gear, and c.) bangalores (bombs on sticks) were stuffed in the bottom of the plane to drop with the paras.
There are a few of the letters and his artwork floating around, as well as his last scribbled note to his wife before they took off on D-day. Highly suggested read.
Personality:
Again, there isn't a lot about him or seen in the series. From reading his letters I gather he was a very smart man with a cool head. He had to be to become an officer at his age. The men respected him- not as much as they did Winters, but Meehan earned it from them which speaks volumes about his character.
I intend on playing him much like that- calm, reserved, the sort of man a person can respect and come to like. Winters is in charge of the men in the Villiage and he will respect that and quite possibly will chuckle over it. He'd have to be blind to know that his XO was the favored one to take charge of Easy over him when Sobel was ousted.
